The envisioned medical safety investigation committees will be organs whose function will be to maintain a relationship of trust between doctors and patients and eliminate the people's distrust in medical practice. The Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry has hammered out the details of the committees, which are expected to be tasked with investigating the cause of deaths resulting from medical malpractice and to work for the prevention of the recurrence of such mishaps.
